Building on a hill often stretches both budget and
imagination — but with the right approach, it can all come together. This
project is proof.
Our clients wanted a warm, modern family home with room to
breathe and panoramic vistas — all within a tightly managed budget. Designed
for a steep site in the Port Hills, the home showcases how careful coordination
of architecture, engineering, and construction can deliver exceptional quality
without compromising vision.
Some of the typical challenges in hillside
construction revolve around uncertain ground conditions, and this site was no
different. As we see so often, success lies in genuine
collaboration — expected, yet too frequently overlooked. Methodology,
buildability, and budget must work hand-in-hand, so every decision needs to be
guided by deeply knowledgeable people. Together with our structural and
geotechnical engineers, we opted for a combination of deep gravity piles and
rock anchoring rather than the initial concept of removing mass fill. That
decision alone saved our clients at least $185,000,demonstrating
how technical expertise translates directly into real savings.
The result is a smart, contemporary home anchored securely
into the Port Hills, making the most of its unique elevation and outlook.
Whether it’s enjoying a G&T on the deck as the sun sets, or pampering in
the beautifully tiled bathrooms, this home delivers ease, comfort, and
thoughtful detail.
Through creative design solutions, rigorous project
planning, and our deep experience with complex sites, we successfully brought
our clients’ vision to life,
